ABOUT THE CASE

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Shanteari was notified that a temporary emergency closure of her daycare center was put in place. The next day, Thursday, July 21, 2022, she was informed of the child molestation allegations made against her husband that had caused the closure. Shanny was immediately plunged into extreme distress. On Thursday evening, she was overcome with intense emotions and her anguish finally came to a head. Now we are seeking any support that the public can offer to help raise funds toward her Legal Defense.

​​WHO IS SHANTEARI

Ms. Shanteari Weems (Shanny) is the beloved owner of Lil Kidz Kastle Daycare Center, which she has affectionately run for over 17 years, alongside her business partner and friend, Nicole Knox. It all started with the dream of a young girl in Baltimore City, where Shanny watched her own mother operate a successful home-based daycare center. As an adult, Shanny effectively balanced home and career as she worked in Brockbridge Correctional Facility in Jessup, as a correctional officer for over 11 years. She was finally able to see her dream become reality in 2005 with the opening of the first center in Columbia, MD, and the Owings Mills location would follow the next year.

​But to those who personally know and love her, Shanny is so much more than just a business owner. Shanny is a beloved mother, stepmother, aunt, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She is a dependable, loving, caring and supportive force in the lives of everyone whom she held dear.

​In 2017, Shanny married James Weems Jr., he was welcomed into the family and later became a fixture at the Owings Mills center as the temporary van operator. At that time Shanny could never have imagined that she had unknowingly married an alleged child predator, who would years later prove to be the demise of everything she had worked so hard to build.
